Starting with the one and only Cher, who appeared at the 1986 Oscars in a stunning custom-made Bob Mackie piece, where she pushed the boundaries of her era, as she bared her midriff in the sexy yet glamorous sequence.

Elisabeth Hurley

It would not be a jaw-dropping red carpet moment list if we did not add the iconic Versace Dress that Elizabeth Hurley wore in 1994 and changed the course of fashion history. It remains to this day one of the most iconic red carpet moments, that have since been recreated countless times, even by the brilliant fashion queen, Donatella, who recreated the look for her pre-fall collection in 2018.

Rose McGowan

Rose McGowan left everyone speechless as she walked the red carpet for the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards, in a sheer beaded dress and black thong. The attire left media outlets rushing to censor the footage and images from the event. Her then-boyfriend, Marilyn Manson, has since stated that the fashion choice was a “political statement” in the era before social media.
