Beyonce and Jay-Z are the new faces of the iconic Tiffany & Co. ad campaign. The powerhouse couple looks stunning and glamorous in the recent photos published by the luxurious Jewelry brand, as they are “Celebrating modern love”.
The photos from the campaign, which Beyonce posted on her Instagram page, caused a series of reactions from the people. Some had admiration and adored the collaboration; others saw past the historical event and had a few things to say.
Starting with the positives, there were a series of firsts in the campaign. The most important “first” is Beyonce became the first woman to wear the iconic diamond, was featured in the brilliant film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.
Beyonce is featured in photos wearing the 30 million dollar diamond, which has left its mark through fashion history. The “widely known” diamond was first unearthed in South Africa in 1877 and has since only been worn by 4 women. The first woman to wear the diamond was Mary Whitehouse; then passed on to the legend herself, Ms Audrey Heprubn, who wore it in the 1960s classic, Lady Gaga wore it on one of the biggest nights of her life, when she won her first Oscar for ‘A Star is Born. The fourth person to wear the diamond was Gal Gadot wore it in the recent remake of the upcoming 2022 film, ‘Death on the Nile ‘, and now Beyonce becomes the fifth woman to wearing the famed 128.54-carat diamond.
It has just been announced that the singer and her Husband will campaign with Tiffany’s widely known jewellery store. For the campaign, Beyonce poses next to Jay-z, wearing black attire resembling Audrey Hepburn’s character, Holly Golightly, in the legendary film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
The 39-year old slipped into a classic little black dress, like the movie’s character, with the same high elegant hairdo while posing next to her husband of 13 years, Jay-z. The couple told PEOPLE that they “Love is the diamond that the jewellery and art decorate.”
There has been some recent backlash from the public after it became known that the diamond is considered a “blood diamond”. It was mined during the colonial era in South Africa and should have never been worn and not be admired.
