The GQ awards are finally here; after skipping last year’s award show due to covid, it is surely a sense of fresh air to enjoy one of the biggest award ceremonies. As we head into Autumn, the GQ awards are one of the last award ceremonies to take place this year, and it was filled with stars, scientists, heroes, and above all, fashion.
So let’s get started! The GQ Awards celebrate some of the biggest and most inspirational figures in culture, media, fashion, and sports, as well as upcoming talents and heroes. This year the GQ awards took place to honour the men and women who have enriched our last this past year.
Those people are the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine creators/lifesavers, Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert and Dr Catherine Green. The artists that stole the limelight these past 12 months were also winners at the award ceremony, such as Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins who won the Legend award at the ceremony. The legendary director, Quintin Tarantino, won the Writer award for his first novel. His debut novel is called ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’, which is an adaptation of his most recent film of the same name.
Harris Reed won the award for ‘Breakthrough Designer’, who also dressed many famous figures for the GQ red carpet but has also been the favourite choice by Harry Styles who’s fashion choices have become a show-stopping moment in the music industry and worldwide.
Another legendary figure to win an award during the glamorous ceremony was the one and only Vivienne Westwood, who won the much deserved ‘Game changer’ award. The legendary designer turned her attention to tackling Climate Change with a new manifesto. During her speech, Vivienne raised awareness about the topic stating, “The only way we can survive is not to go back t normal, not to buy bombs but also not to buy electric cars” She continued by adding, “Keep your own car and, if possible, don’t use it. If you have to use it and it breaks down, then you buy an electric car, if you absolutely have to.”
The GQ Men of the year awards which collaborated with ‘Boss’, reached its 24th Milestone, and this year the red carpet returned. The stars lit up the red carpet like never before, sporting stunning outfits by outstanding designers such as Daniel W Fletcher, Harris Reed, Vivienne Westwood, the amazingly talented Rege-Jean Page, and Raff Law.
